As a class, we will read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle.
Step 1) Let’s watch a video about how plants grow. Click here to watch Moby the robot learn about plants from his friend Annie.
Step 2) What did you learn along with Moby? Click here to put the plant life cycle in the correct order.
Step 3) Now to help us remember what a plant needs to grow, let’s listen to a song. We can sing it together! Click here to learn the song about the 5 things plants need.
Step 4) Next, Mrs. Kerns will give you a piece of paper. Your piece of paper will have 6 pictures on it. You will cut out the pictures and paste them in the right order onto a piece of construction paper. Don’t forget to put your name on it!
Step 5) When everyone at your table is finished, each person will get seeds, soil, a cup, and a Popsicle stick.
Step 6) Following the directions on your construction paper, you will plant your seeds with your group.
Step 7) On another piece of paper, you will draw a picture to show the seed is under the soil. At this point, nothing will be poking out of the soil just yet!
Step 8) Every few days we will draw pictures of our seeds’ progress. We must also make sure our seeds get enough water and sunlight so they grow!
Step 9) Once your seeds have become full-grown plants, you will have a Gardener’s Handbook full of your drawings and instructions for planting!
